Complete Dentures:
Complete dentures are made for total tooth loss. Their purpose is to replace not only the missing teeth but also the resorbed parts of the alveolar ridge that diminish after tooth loss.
Partial Dentures:
Partial dentures are used when several natural teeth remain in the jaw. These dentures replace the missing teeth and the resorbed portion of the alveolar bone. The stability of the restoration is achieved through retention elements that rest on the remaining teeth and the underlying tissues. The denture consists of an acrylic base that rests on the jawbone and compensates for the alveolar ridge, artificial teeth, and wire clasps that attach to the remaining teeth. Reinforcement can be added to the denture to prevent it from breaking.
